Inspiring Projects and the PeaNuts Behind Them

Over the weekend I was browsing through the hundreds of new layouts posted to the PeaNut Gallery, thinking about the current theme for our design team in the Creating Garden "Using Multiple Photos." There were so many great examples that fit perfectly into that theme that I wanted to highlight just a few.

If you haven't done it recently, take tour through the PeaNut Gallery and discover for yourself the inspiring projects there and the members behind them.

This layout by iris_sparkup caught my eye, first because of the glittery elements, and then I was taken by the way she used multiple variation photos (from the same photo shoot) around the edge to further promote her title, the message of her layout: Superstar.

In this layout by gigikennedy, she used photos from more than one period of time to form a single message of love. It's a great realization of a challenge to use unrelated photos to tell a story.

I love how both of these layouts fit nicely into the theme "Making It Fit: Using Multiple Photos" that the Garden Girls did this month, but each accomplishes this using different methods and theories. It reminds me that no matter the subject, the photos, or the products, in the end we are all using the same techniques to create great scrapbook pages.

live life. scrapbook it.

Trend Watch: Acrylic Stamps

The hottest thing in scrapbooking right now seems to be acrylic stamps. Everyone is making them - companies who have been making stamps for years, and companies that are just now getting into the stamping business. They are so easy to use. They stick without any adhesive to a clear block - or to anything that you have handy to stamp with, in a pinch. And they are really easy to store because they take up so little space compared to mounted stamps. What more can you ask from a scrapbooking product?

I'm actually not a big stamper, but I haven't been able to resist accumulating quite the little stash of clear stamps. My favorite kinds are the random sorts of shapes, because they are so versatile. For this layout, I used them to make the background just a little more interesting. I dug out my brown ink pad from back in the day when I used to ink everything and stamped some shapes into the background paper. I also used a zig zag stamp from the same set to add some "stitches" through the background.
