There have been a few changes on the site in the last week:

The Creating Garden got a make-over!! The home page for the Garden got a new look, and new areas. A bunch of new projects were added, old ones deleted, things changed up quite a bit. We have some fun things in store for this year! It’s so very exciting.

Two Peas made the leap into the world of Digital Scrapbooking this week! WE have added a whole new section to the site, devoted to this avenue of scrapbooking. The Digital section has it’s own homepage, with links to articles, FAQs, challenges, and more. We added a new message board forum and a gallery area for this new section as well. We will be offering downloads---fonts, Digital Kits by Rhonna Farrer and freebees. We hope that everyone will really enjoy participating in the digital section. We want to provide a fun place to get to know more about this art form.

Later this week, we are traveling to Atlanta for the CHA trade show. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again, catching up, and seeing all that we can see. I am eager to see all the new products, and dream about bringing them to Two Peas. We have a great CHA countdown coming---sponsored by KI Memories. We have a lot of companies who will be debuting their product lines on the site. Some of which, we are going to be offering pre-sale ordering on. Watch for those! You won’t be disappointed.

With our new year underway, and our trip to CHA, we are going to put into motion out new business model. We will be offering a new store format and inventory system. Watch for this in the next couple of weeks. We think this will be a Win-Win for everyone. We are eager to bring this our new system to Two Peas.

Have a great Valentine’s Day. We will be in Atlanta, if you see us, stop and say HI! We look forward to seeing you.

Kristina

When did you start scrapbooking? How were you introduced to it?
I started in 1999 after I graduated from college. I picked up a scrapbook magazine from Michael's and started collecting supplies later that week.

What are your sources for inspiration?
My daughter Cadence is my biggest inspiration. Other sources that inspire me include a good photograph or quote, a memory that I don't want to forget, new products :), layouts by other Peas in the Gallery and the Garden, magazine advertisements, Hallmark cards and more recently websites and catalogs.

How do you get started on projects (layouts, etc)?
I usually start with the photographs. Pretty much everything I put on a layout revolves around the photos. I'll decide on cardstock and patterned papers based on the colors in the photos. If the pictures are black and white, then I'll pick color schemes based on the mood I want to portray. Embellishments go next, but I'm pretty much a minimalists when it comes to embellishments. I almost always work on the journaling last, but I'm always thinking about what I'd like to write during the time that I put a layout together.

What things do you like to communicate through your work?
Sometimes in our every day lives things get so busy and so hectic that we lose sight of the most important things. Scrapbooking helps me to be reflective about how I feel about my family, my life and what's most important to me. Simply put, I just want my family to know that I love them very much and to let future generations know who I was.

What have been your biggest achievements or greatest layouts or moments with this hobby?
Being inducted into Creating Keepsakes Hall of Fame in 2003 was definitely an achievement for me considering all the amazing talent that there is out there. In fact, I had gotten Honorable Mention the year before and I was already quite proud of that achievement in itself. In addition, I feel so fortunate to have become a Garden Girl here at Two Peas. When I first discovered this site, I'd told my husband how one of my dreams was to become a Garden Girl. That was five years ago. Well, let me tell you . . . dreams do come true!

What kind of goals do you have with your scrapbooking?
Be more organized and keep my scrap area clean. Become a better photographer.

Where do you scrap? Do you attend crops or conventions?
I scrap in a corner of our family room.

I consider myself a hermit scrapper. I've attended crops in the past, but haven't been to one in a long time. I like to have all my supplies and the computer at hand when I scrap.

I attend conventions as long as they fit into my schedule, and I like to go with my sister. She's my scrapping buddy although we never scrap together. But we do everything else scrap related together. :) We even worked at the same LSS several years ago.

Where does scrapbooking fit into your life? Do you scrap in the morning, evening, late night? When do you do your greatest work?
The only time I scrap during the day is when my daughter is napping, although these days I find my pregnant self napping right along with her! Unfortunately, now that she's a toddler her naps have gotten shorter and shorter. I'm a night owl, so I accomplish more when everyone else has gone to bed.

What does your family think of your scrapbooking?
They are all very proud and supportive. When my sister or I get a new magazine or idea book my mom always asks if any of us are in it, and if we are she takes them to work or church to show her coworkers and friends. My husband's laptop screensaver does a slide show of my layouts so that he can show them off at work.

Do you have a favorite product line, paper, sticker, or cardstock color?
What I've been reaching for most when doing projects, particularly for the Garden, are KI and Paperfever patterned papers, black Chatterbox letter stickers and Bazzill textured cardstock. Right now I have a thing for any of the textures in white. And ribbon! Who doesn't love ribbon?!!
