With February came a new look to our Creating Garden. The Garden homepage changed, new features were added, things were made easier to find and hopefully made more simple to use. We decided to revamp it a bit---with our new company directions, we decided that a lot of the areas of the site could use some updating, some new features and design. We have a lot more in store for this year, this first new look of the Creating Garden was just the beginning. Some of the new projects we added are: User Inspiration challenge, GG Inspiration challenge, a Sketch challenge and a revival to come of the 3 Peas with a Product project. There is a new calendar and project explanation area in the Creating Garden as well, that should eliminate any questions or confusion about what we are doing in the Garden. The older Garden projects have been into an archive, which may be further sorted and organized at a later date.

We hope that everyone enjoys the new design of the Creating Garden. We want to inspire you!

With the opening of the new Digital section here at Two Peas in a Bucket, we have started to offer Digital Scrapbooking kits created by Rhonna Farrer. There has been some discussion since it was brought live to the website, that the price is rather higher than others on the market. We at Two Peas will always strive to offer you the best quality in our products. We feel that while our kit may be more than some of the other kits offered on the web, we feel that it is well worth the price paid. Rhonna is a first class artist, who has done a lot of design work in the Graphic Arts field, as well as creating her own product line through Autumn Leaves. We are really excited to have her on our team, and creating these super kits for our customers. There are so many pieces of her kits---as a non-digital scrapper as of yet, I was amazed at the number of items included with her kits, as well as the quality of her designs. Her first kit, SweetPea is so cool---- I, myself, am eager to attempt to print out a number of her items for use on my layouts. Please, if you have not yet shopped in the digital area, take a look! There will be more kits each month, as well as an increasing number of fonts!

As so many of you know, February was the month for CHA---the largest hobby & craft industry trade show of the year. I know that there have been scans, posts, reports, pictures, sightings, journals, basically everything under the sun about the show has already been put out there for you to see. But, I will give you my wrap up anyway. I was feeling good about this year’s show. I know I am hard to please, hard to impress at times, and have to admit that shows in the past have often saddened me--- I think almost everyone knows that I am a PAPER lover. Patterned paper. Much like I felt about fabric when I quilted, I LOVE paper. Everyone I know has heard me say “you can’t scrapbook without the paper first!” I know this is no longer as true now that Digital Scrapbooking has really taken off. But it’s the colors, the textures, the patterns that delight me. Delight is the best word to describe how paper makes me feel. It makes me happy. So, as I return to the matter at hand, and away from my tangent, I will say that I was excited to attend this years show and see all the new papers that the industry had to offer. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of great paper lines being shown this year.

When I first thought of this theme idea, it was last year, and it seemed like such a simple idea to me. What I had in my head was so very hard to explain, I soon learned. But as I tried to explain the thoughts in my head, the Garden Girls took the thought of this theme and ran with it. I had intended this theme to be about easily identified brands and creating a layout that would demonstrate that brand simply. I did this kind of layout with my own projects that I did for the theme. At the time I first thought of the Brand theme, I was thinking about the Gap and how it is so “jeans and Chinos”. Classic. And how to get people to be inspired by that simple brand identity.

The Garden Girls took this to another level, breaking it down more, to single items by a certain brand, or an ad for a brand. Or even colors for an add or collection. There were several interpretations of the Target bullseye logo. It was interesting to see how each person who chose this logo used it differently within their layouts. I love that kind of project, seeing how each person can do something different with the exact same piece of inspiration.

Weekly Challenge : Lisa McGarvey : Weekly Challenge - Group Three Photos
Since I"ve been making layouts for the garden, I've realized that I gravitate towards doing one page layouts with three pictures. I dont know why, but I do. :) So, my challenge to you this week is to do a layout with a grouping of three photos. Try resizing them on your computer or cropping them into different sizes with your trimmer. Mat them, don't mat them or do both. Smack them up side by side, don't have them touching at all or overlap them. Experiment with it to find the right composition for your page size.
